It will be May before you know it! And you know what that means…Mother’s Day!
So what are your plans? You cannot go wrong with a Mother’s Day Tea. Let’s get together all the sisters, aunts, grandmothers, moms, and cousins for beautiful celebration Tea.
So how do you get started?
Firstly, let’s decide on a venue. Personally, I love intimate tea parties at my home. They are so comfy and laid back. However, if you’re going to have a large gathering, look into a rental space. You can rent conference rooms at recreation centers, mansions, even courthouses. I had a tea party at a historic courthouse, and it was amazing.
What about decor?
Decide on a color scheme. Pink, blue, floral, pastels? The possibilities are endless. Thrift stores offer a lot of decorating ideas. Some of my favorite pieces and tea sets have come from the Goodwill and estate sales. Silver serving trays and teapots are perfect for a Victorian style Afternoon Tea. Don’t forget tiered trays and other cute serving dishes like this one.
Food anyone?
Decide on a simple, yet elegant menu. Tea sandwiches and scones are a must. If you choose not to make scones yourself, try one of your local bakeries or coffee shops. I bet they have a pretty awesome variety of tasty scones. Tea sandwiches should be simple, yet delicious. The cucumber sandwiches is always to be expected. Just jazz it up a bit with a tasty spice to make the sandwich pop. Chicken salad is always a safe bet. But be mindful of possible food allergies of your guests.
Don’t forget the yummy sweets!
How about mini cupcakes and two-bite brownies? Sounds delicious!
