Afternoon Tea on the Lawn
I truly fancy myself a Southern Belle.
Secretly, my daydreams are flooded with visions of pearls, poshly decorated porches with delicate tea servings, and the aroma of delicious cups of tea filling the air. I imagine ladies of leisure, perfectly coiffed, lounging daintily, sipping and taking in the majesty of the pecan groves,while gingerly fanning away the yellow flies away. These dreams lead me to memories of sitting at my grandmother’s table on the Gulf Coast of Alabama. It was here that my love for elegant simplicity was born. As I remember my grandmother’s slender fingers preparing our tea with cream, plenty of sugar, and buttered toast, I am flooded with love; love for her; love for simple beauty; love for tea. Now as an adult, when I partake in this humble pleasure, I desire to share the essence of these treasured moments with others like me, who love all things beautiful.
